Full transparency into the formula behind your organization's compliance posture.
Your Compliance Health Score is not a black box. We believe you should understand exactly how your score is calculated so you can take targeted action to improve it. Every factor, every weight, and every deduction is documented here.
The score ranges from 0 to 100 and is composed of five weighted factors that together provide a holistic view of your compliance program's health.
Your total score is the sum of five weighted components, each measuring a critical dimension of compliance readiness.
Score = Overdue Items (30%) + Coverage (25%) + Attestations (20%) + Escalation Health (15%) + Profile Completeness (10%)
Maximum possible score: 100 points
Measures how many compliance tasks, policy updates, or regulatory actions have passed their deadline without completion. This is the heaviest-weighted factor because overdue items represent the most immediate compliance risk.
Calculation:
Example: An organization with 4 overdue items scores 30 - (4 x 3) = 18 points for this factor.
Measures the percentage of your subscribed regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, CMS, FDA, Joint Commission, etc.) that have at least one active compliance project. Higher coverage means your team is actively managing compliance across all relevant areas.
Calculation:
Example: An organization subscribed to 4 frameworks with active projects in 3 of them scores (3/4) x 25 = 18.75 points.
Measures the percentage of required attestations that have been completed by assigned stakeholders. Attestations confirm that responsible individuals have reviewed and acknowledged policy changes, regulatory updates, or compliance actions.
Calculation:
Example: An organization with 45 of 50 required attestations completed scores (45/50) x 20 = 18 points.
Measures the number of open (unresolved) escalations in your compliance workflow. Escalations are triggered when tasks are overdue, attestations are missed, or critical compliance actions require management intervention. Fewer open escalations indicate a healthier compliance operation.
Calculation:
Example: An organization with 2 open escalations scores 15 - (2 x 5) = 5 points for this factor.
Measures the percentage of your organization's profile fields that have been filled in. A complete profile enables NOETED to deliver more accurate regulatory matching, better policy analysis, and more relevant compliance recommendations.
Calculation:
Example: An organization with 8 of 10 profile fields completed scores (8/10) x 10 = 8 points.
The score is designed to resist gaming. Each factor measures a real compliance outcome, not just activity. For example, you cannot inflate your score by creating empty projects; coverage only counts frameworks with genuinely active compliance work. Attestations require real sign-offs from assigned individuals. The best way to improve your score is to actually improve your compliance posture.
Your Compliance Health Score is recalculated in real time as changes occur. When a task is completed, an attestation is signed, or an escalation is resolved, your score updates immediately. The dashboard always reflects your current compliance state.
We recommend targeting a score of 80 or above for a healthy compliance program. Here is how we categorize scores:
Yes. NOETED tracks your score history and displays it on your dashboard as a trend line. You can see how your score has changed over weeks and months, and correlate improvements with specific compliance actions your team has taken.
